Monica Cevallos, Senior Marketing Manager @ Cricket Wireless
Monica Cevallos is the Los Angeles Senior Marketing Manager of Diversity and Community Engagement for Cricket Wireless. She is responsible for the development and implementation of targeted, local marketing and diversity projects to drive customer acquisition, retention and revenue growth for Cricket Wireless. Her role includes Identifying and engaging community programs, boards and sponsorship opportunities to leverage brand, products & services.
Previously Ms. Cevallos was an Associate in the Latino practice-area of the Dewey Square Group, a national public affairs firm under WPP. As an associate at Latinovations, Ms. Cevallos focused on Latino and grassroots outreach, paid/earned media relations, building statewide coalitions and providing strategic public affairs and marketing counsel to DSG clients.
Monica has been a guest commentator on the PBS show “To The Contrary,” and serves as the National Director of Operations and Chapter Development for The New Latino Movement, a volunteer-based network that engages, trains, empowers and connects young Latinos through online and on-the-ground strategies.
In 2007 Ms. Cevallos joined the Casa Blanca project, a national effort approved by the Hispanic Caucus of the Democratic National Committee to recruit Latino Democrat organizers and volunteers for the presidential election. As a National Steering Committee member, she became the National Coordinator for Latinos for Clinton and was responsible for organizing and training over 65 state and regional Directors to adequately host events, fundraisers and campaign volunteer opportunities. Additionally, she served as liaison for national/international media and maintained the website with daily blog entries.
In 2006 Ms. Cevallos obtained her bachelors in Criminal Justice and Latin American Studies for University of Maryland- College Park. She was inducted into the Medallion society “Top 20 Graduating Leaders” and was awarded La Raza Unida Award from campus administration.
Hosea Chanchez, Actor + Philanthropist
Known for his disarming charm, down-to-earth disposition, and unquestionable talent, Hosea Chanchez is proving himself to be one of the most-watched talents on the rise. Chanchez has been developing his craft in film, TV and theater over the last few years and is not slowing down anytime soon. Chanchez can currently be seen starring on BET’s “The Game” as “Malik Wright” – a star quarterback who is brash, yet sweet, and is dealing with his sudden success. The series ran for three seasons on the CW, and in January 2011 returned for its fourth season on BET, debuting to historic ratings. Chanchez was nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy Series at the 2013 NAACP Image Awards for his work on the hit television series. “The Game” will begin airing their 9th and final season on June 3, 2015.
While Chanchez has flourished in this comedic role on “The Game”, he has also shown great promise in dramatic roles evidenced by his work in film, on the stage and in episodic television. He secured a lead role in the feature RICH QUICK and has held supporting roles in THE OUTSIDER and MY BROTHER. In 2011, he appeared in 96 MINUTES, which premiere at the SXSW Music and Film Festival. Hosea also co-starred in independent features DYSFUNCTIONAL FRIENDS and THE COST OF HEAVEN.
Hosea’s theater credits include productions of Royal Oats and Glory, Shop Life, The Wiz and The Long Walk Home. Other television credits include “NCIS,” “The Shield,” “Everwood,” “Close to Home,” “Robbery Homicide Division” and “For Your Love.” Born in Montgomery, Alabama, Chanchez spent the majority of his childhood in Atlanta. He was raised by his loving family who recognized his talents and encouraged him to pursue his dreams. From the moment he sang along to his grandmother’s records, Chanchez displayed an inherent knack for performance. Soon after graduating from high school, he moved to Los Angeles where he found a job as a car salesman and used his free time to learn the audition process and perfect his craft.
Between jobs Chanchez took the time to develop a non-profit organization, Watch Me Win, which is dedicated to enriching the lives of urban youth through mentorship, leadership development, encouragement and empowerment. His personal interests include reading, painting, writing music and cooking. Chanchez currently resides in Los Angeles.
Brely Evans. Actress + Vocalist
Actress, Vocalist, Comedienne and voice over talent Brély Evans is an Oakland Native who has become the epitome of what the industry dubs a triple threat. Her versatility puts her in a class of her own as she transcends your entertainment experience; whether she’s making you cry in a drama, buckle over with laughter in a comedy or challenging your intellectual wit through thought provoking discussion as a radio personality. Her versatility allows for her to be the face of national brands such as Jenny Craig.
With a host of film, theater and commercial work under her belt, Brély’s break out role was opposite Oscar Award nominee Queen Latifah, as “Sabrina”, in the romantic comedy Just Wright, staring Common, Paula Patton, Pam Grier and Phylicia Rashad. Ms. Evans role of “Sabrina” was expanded as a result of her comedic timing and ability to bring unexpected life to her characters. This same power packed persona afforded her an opportunity to star in the remake of Sparkle playing Tune Ann, best friend to lead actress Jordin Sparks, produced by Debra Martin-Chase.
Her next projects are generating a lot of buzz, Being Mary Jane, is said to be BET’s next big series due out in January 2014, where she plays the role of Nichelle Nicholas, best friend to Gabrielle Union (Mary Jane) and Let the Church say Amen which is Ms. Regina King’s directorial debut.
Prior to starting her television and film career, this songbird was the sultry alto/tenor of R&B trio Emage, signed to Mercury/PolyGram Records by Black Sheep founder Dres and then A&R executive Lisa Cortes. Brély’s love for music, acting and live performance landed her the lead role in Torn Between the Two a gospel stage play where she plays “Shante Campbell” daughter to Shirley Murdock.
Brély’s talent has been commanding attention but its her faith, drive, and commitment to excellence that continues to reward her with career opportunities, both of her own making and because her multi dimensional persona is constantly in high demand. This friendly face girl next door is sure to sale as she says, “Snow to Eskimos”. Ms. Evans’ talent is synonymous with an all-star cast. Christian Keyes, Actor + Singer
Christian Keyes was born in Detroit, Mi. He is a humble, hardworking and driven young man. An experienced actor and singer, he was labeled by Tyler Perry as “One of the most consistent male actors I’ve worked with”. Christian has done more than 40 stage productions and more than 1,200 theatrical shows and has performed live in front of more than 4 million people while touring the country with several national stage plays. From acting and singing opposite of Brian McKnight, Johnny Gill, Vivica Fox, Shirley Murdock, Cheryl Pepsi Riley, Anthony Hamilton, Lyfe Jennings, Avant, David & Tamela Mann, and Jennifer Holiday. Christian has recently graced the covers of several national and online magazines, and has been featured in many others. He has had several national ads in GQ, Elle, Men’s Journal and Vogue. He is also the lead in Ashanti’s video that was nominated for video of the year for “The Way That I Love You.” Christian is the lead in videos for Ledisi “In The Morning” and for Keri Hilson “Energy” and has starred in videos for Brittany Spears, Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, Nelly and many others.Christian was named one of the 50 most eligible bachelors in the country, by Ebony Magazine. He has had 3 national selling calendars of his own, and was in the national selling Jet Magazine Men’s Calendar.

Tracey Lincoln, LAULYP Marketing Chair + Specialist @ The Walt Disney Company
Los Angeles native, Tracey has always been drawn to projects that tap both creative and analytic juices. While attending Loyola Marymount University, she participated in internship programs with the Los Angeles Clippers, Target, and other brands. Recently, she has started a new journey at The Walt Disney Company, as part of a team that sources Marketing vendors, tools and agencies for all of the companies enterprises. These experiences and more have helped shape her into a digital guru.
“The future belongs to those who prepare it for today”; words from Malcolm X, and words that Tracey has always strived to live by. In 2013 she joined the Los Angeles Urban League Young Professionals, aiming to join forces with those who serve the great city of Los Angeles. Just a year later, she was asked to serve as the Marketing Chair of the organization, and has since helped lead the charge for new programming and branding initiatives. From developing and launching the new www.laulyp.com, the organization’s Job Network, to managing and creating content for the organization, she dedicates countless hours each and every day to ensuring that people know what’s happening with LAULYP, and that it services the community in as many ways possible the best that it can.

Nichol Whiteman, Executive Director @ Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation
Prior to joining the Dodgers, Whiteman served as Executive Director of College Summit’s California region. Her previous positions included Vice President, Development and Communications (2011-13) for LA’s Promise, the Jackie Robinson Foundation (2006-2011) the Earl Graves Publishing Company/Black Enterprise Magazine (2000-2006) as Director, Group Sales and Sponsorship, Essence Magazine (1999-2000) as Manager, Sales Promotions and Merchandising and J.P. Morgan Chase (1998-99) as Marketing Analyst, marketing strategy and communications.
Upon earning the JRF scholarship, Whiteman entered Spelman College in Atlanta and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a minor in Management & Organization in May 1998.
In addition to her JRF Scholarship, Whiteman was named Spelman Class of 1998 Businesswoman of the Year, earned the 2005 LEAD Program in Business Leaders of Tomorrow Award and in 2010 was honored as Woman of Inspiration Honoree by The Wave.
Whiteman is a member of the JRF alumni association, LEAD Program in Business alumni, United Negro College Fund alumni and members of the JP Morgan Chase Alumni, National Alumnae Association of Spelman College and the National Black MBA Association.
She has served on a number of boards, including the Executive Leadership Team at the American Heart Association Go Red Campaign; the advisory board of the Black Enterprise Woman of Power Conference; the Board of Directors for the IDefine Foundation; advisory member of The Positive Results Corporation and serves on the National Advisory Council of A Better Chance, Inc and the Southern California Advisory Board of College Summit.
Whiteman’s family immigrated to New York City from Jamaica. She earned a scholarship to attend a boarding high school in Connecticut where she excelled in soccer and caught the attention of acclaimed scholarship organizations.
Whiteman lives in Inglewood with her husband Timothy and their two young sons Timothy Jr. and Nicholas.
